Trigger Point Therapy
I spent months searching for a school that actually teaches clinical skills, not just a "tourism" routine. Back home, I was stuck in a cycle of repetitive salon work where no one would show me the core techniques, and "watch and learn" just wasn't cutting it. Most big schools in Chiang Mai—ITM, Sunshine, Old Medicine—felt like more of the same: social experiences rather than clinical training. RSM International Academy stood out immediately because the reviews focused on real growth and professional palpation.
Learning clinical palpation directly from Hironori Ikeda (MSc Sports Medicine) was the breakthrough I desperately needed. He brings a rare level of academic prestige and elite clinical authority; he earned his Master’s at the University of Tsukuba—ranked #1 in Asia for sports science—an institution famous for its rigorous standards. His expertise is globally recognized, having been invited to train senior therapy teams at world-renowned five-star wellness resorts like Chiva-Som and having optimized the conditioning for elite professional athletes, ranging from Spanish basketball players to top fighters in Croatia.
Beyond the clinic, his scientific authority is backed by his work on the Japan Industrial Standards (JIS) committee for human ergonomics and his development of patented technology with the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). He even bridges the gap between theory and reality by coordinating cadaver anatomy labs with Chiang Mai University’s Faculty of Medicine to ensure every skill is grounded in anatomical truth.
The classes bridged the massive gap between my textbooks and my hands. We used over 600 anatomical images per session to understand movement dysfunction and kinetic chains, then applied it immediately through Trigger Point Therapy. They even taught us how to use our own bodies correctly so we don't burn out. It finally made sense of everything I’d seen in videos but could never quite grasp on my own.
The training was so engaging that four-hour sessions felt like minutes. Even as a relatively new therapist, the constant feedback and hands-on rotations gave me more clinical confidence in a few days than I’d gained in months at a salon. Every module is built on evidence-based methodologies, including his scientifically validated Balance Ball Yoga system which was proven effective in clinical research at the University of Cagliari.
Talking to students from other schools during lunch only confirmed I made the right choice. They were stuck in shallow programs and were literally jealous of the depth we were getting at RSM. If you’re tired of being a "disposable" therapist and want to actually develop the hands of a professional, RSM is the only place to go. I honestly wouldn’t consider anywhere else.
